MIDSUMMER

Tell me what you dream
When you're out there, when you're inside here with me
Tell me what you dream
Check the mirror and the wolves behind the trees
Tell me what you dream
Trip the wire, knock your head and lose your sense
Tell me what you dream
Be delivered to the godless elements

Smoke curls on the horizon
Now you know now you know
And you wish you were back at your cabin
With your stove and your light
And a friend who knows what is right

Tell me what you dream
Pile the stones up, cross the broken beaver dam
Tell me what you dream
When you whisper no one knows just where I am
Tell me what you dream
Feel the earth turn, pole to pole it's wound so tight
Tell me what you dream
In the shadows and the failing Whitefish light

Smoke curls on the horizon
Now you know now you know
And you wish you were back at your cabin
With your beans and your beer
And a sad friend who needs your cheer

Hold your breath
Don't make a sound
The magic sky has got you spinning 'round
Spinning 'round

The hills and the valleys below
Sing to you from long ago
Tell me tell me
Tell me what you dream

Notes:
The voice samples include bits from Fahrenheit 451.
The arpeggio synth (intro, verse 1) was played on the JX-3P,
plus delay, run through a politely distorted Peavey Decade.
The crackling under verse 2 is looped vinyl surface noise
(from the outer groove of a Gordon Lightfoot LP).
Drumming is by the MMT-8, a unit which, though prone
to panic attacks, has proven to be quite upstanding.
