STICKS AND STONES

Come the day I’ll find my sticks and stones
Cool earth in my no-fly zone
The lonely are never alone
And in this world
It’s own or be owned

Everything’s for sale
Everything’s reduced
The ship of fools is floating still
But the rivets have all come loose
It’s a children’s world
The teenage century
Those digits come tumbling
And we all catch faith in numerology

Come the day I’ll find my sticks and stones
Cool earth in my no-fly zone
The lonely are never alone
And in this world
It’s own or be owned

We’re moving to a place
Where dawdling is a crime
So put on that McHappy face
And work work all the time
Where’s my right to frown
And misbehave in church
And waste away a perfectly good day
On alcohol and words

Come the day I’ll find my sticks and stones
Cool earth in my no-fly zone
The lonely are never alone
And in this world
It’s own or be owned
